Download that Pandora song!

Hey everyone. I know there are many programs that are made to do this, and I have used a couple. But I'm paranoid of downloading from some of the sites where those are hosted (like some Bit Torrent sites), and I have found a way to use a free and legal program.

Get the Real Player Plugin for Mozilla Firefox. http://www.real.com/

This plugin lets you download any video (or audio!) file that you find on a website. When you scroll over/click on the video/audio file, a box pops up above it, and you can push "download video" to save.

In Pandora, start up your music. Once you have the Real Player plugin, simply click on the music box (i usually click the icon of the cd cover) when you like the song that is playing. Then push the "download video". It will take a few seconds to download the 2-3mb file. On your download list, it will show up as "Pandora, Music that...." or something similar (it will NOT have artist or song name). When downloaded, in the downloaded box, click the "Convert" button. Here you select what file type you want, I usually do MP3, but you can also choose all kinds of format including iTunes (MP4), and formats for most phones including Blackberries. Then click convert (after you have selected where it will be converted to), it will take ten seconds. From there, open up the file where ever you selected to download it (like in My Music). Rename the file with Artist/Song. You can use a media player program or editor to put in all the rest of the song/artist/cd information.

So its not quite as easy as the programs since you have to rename for the artist and song number.... but its also free, (more importantly) virus-free, and pretty simple if you just want to get a few songs you like when listening. Can be time consuming if you are just trying to download alot of music.

Enjoy!

*edit* real.com is being weird today. You can also try http://www.real.com/realplayer if the first link doesnt work.

Also you may have to enable the real player plugin in your FireFox settings (Tools -> Add-Ons -> Plug-Ins). Here is the Mozilla Firefox official link for help on this plug in: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using+the+RealPlayer+plugin+with+Firefox

Be Safe Online - Free Tips and Anonymous VPNs

It is important to be safe in all aspects of your life. Sometimes people are careful in all other areas but overlook the information they reveal online. Not only is you IP address logged on many sites but your ISP can keep data on all sites you visit that can be turned over to LEO's with a simple request. If you really want to get scared read this article: BBC NEWS | UK | UK 'must log' phone and web use (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8087530.stm) It explains how the UK plans to log all phone and internet communications that can be accessed WITHOUT a warrant.

One great way to keep your online tracks hidden is a VPN.
*
So what is a VPN?
*
A VPN is a "Virtual Private Network". Basically it creates a fully encrypted tunnel between you and the VPN providers servers. All of your data goes through this tunnel to their servers and out to the internet. This protects your IP address and browsing histories not only from the websites you visit but also you ISP.

*How is a VPN different from a proxy?
*
First off a VPN encrypts and tunnels all of your internet traffic through it. Proxies need to be configured in each program where you want to use it. This is not necessary for VPN's, once they are configured and enabled your done. Also with proxies your communication to the proxy itself is unprotected. This means its possible that your ISP can see the traffic going to and from the proxy. The only thing that GOOD proxies protect is your IP from the websites you visit. Bad proxies wont even protect your IP.

*VPN's sound great, how can I get one?
*There are many providers of VPN's on the internet. Many are attached to a small monthly fee in the range of 5 - 10 dollars a month. There are also some free services available but good ones are hard to find.

Here are a few good VPN providers:

Home (http://itshidden.com/) Great *FREE* option! 128 Bit Encryption. Decent 1Mb speed for free users. Unlimited speed for paid customers; $12.99 a month. This is a new service and is well regarded.

http://www.perfect-privacy.com/ €12 (Euro) a month if you prepay a year. This quote from their site says it all: "We are not interested in who you are. You can pay anonymously. We do not keep logs." They have very fast speeds and servers all over the world. Offers up to a crazy 4096 bit encryption! The main downside is the shitty exchange rate of the USD. Can pay with multiple anonymous services including cash. For those who need serious security.

Unblock VOIP, annonymous surfing, Unrestricted access in UAE, Dubai, Cheap Personal vpn services! - VPNGates.com (http://vpngates.com/) $15 a month. Servers in multiple countries. Has PPTP, L2TP IPSec and VPN services.

Free 7-Day Trial Offer! Instant Internet anonimity, security and privacy for Windows, reliable and affordable fast vpn service (http://www.flashvpn.com/) $5 a month for normal 128 Bit VPN. $8 a month for the more secure OpenVPN service. US based servers.

Personal VPN Service Anonymous Surfing Paid VPN Accounts Unblock Skype UAE Dubai (http://blacklogic.com/) $15 monthly. Large provider. Multiple servers in different countries to choose from. Multiple payment options including *CASH* so there can be no links back to you. Great for those looking for extreme privacy.

This are enough options here so anyone can get a decent level of online protection. Always remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I have been playing with a os that i found that comes with some powerful tools. I haven't done much with it but I am just learning about some things that you can do with a computer and what you need to be safe when i found this I was blown away with how quickly i could get into my network and even my family's network. Something to keep in mind is it's a free program anyone can have It's called BackTrack. A few min of research and i could break a secured network in a few min. I am not talking a network that is secured by an it pro but was secured per owners manual and some help from a friend. I need to remind you that i don't know much about computers and I was able to attack and break another network so someone that has been trained or knows more could prob. do some serious harm or steal some very sensitive info. Possibly someone that knows more will share what they know about this and help people like me avoid it. Thanks and Enjoy

I might just be paranoid cause I've been researching lots for a class in computer security. But, I got hit a couple of weeks ago by a worm and I'm usually pretty careful. I know there are a few opposing groups to legalization of MJ out there. I found the following subjects pretty interesting. Including out of the box wireless routers, from what I understand it is pretty easy to gain access to a wireless router, sniff your packets and ride your service. Just food for thought. Like I said, I might be paranoid, but I try to be a safe as possible.

*"e-Activists vs Hacktivists*

Beyond the apparent differences between e-Activists and Hacktivists in their effort to be disruptive, both groups primarily exhibit different methods of attack using the Internet. E-Activists use the Web as sources of information, publication, dialogue, coordination, and lobbying. On the other hand, Hacktivists use the Web to host virtual sit-ins and blockades, introduce e-mail bombs, launch Web hacks and computer break-ins, and spread computer viruses and worms"

Hi Computer gang, I am looking for some help setting up an Excel file with CBC data so that I can graph my husbands blood work as he begins his treatment with cannabis oil. (see thread about this here http://www.greenpassion.org/f92/foray-world-oil-here-we-go-15767/

I'm pretty good at my Mac, but don't know the Excel program all that well. Can one of the Excel savvy folks here help me set up a document that allows me to input the date of the CBC, the value of his blood component and the normal blood value

So for example on June 6 he had a CBC. His White Blood Count (WBC) was 425. The normal range is 4 to 11 (and yes 425 is correct!) so then the next count done 2 months later show a WBC of 487. I would like to then take the data and make a trend type graph if possible.
I just really don't know how to enter the info so that I can get the end result. Any help on this would be so appreciated. Maybe someone can make a template for me to follow and then I can input all the data?

Thanks for any help!
Peace,
PG

Peace,
