Hey Lit.. the CFLs are "Compact Flourescent Lights". Depending on what strain you are growing, how big/tall you want you plant, etc... you may veg your plant for 6-8 weeks from a clone, or longer from seed. You can even veg a plant indefinitly to keep a mother for future cloning. The idea is to have a veg area, and a seperate flower area, so you can have a perpetual grow.. and most importantly.. keep a "mother" that you can clone from over and over again. this way, you know exactly what you are growing, how much to fertilize, when to flower, etc. It is kind of like driving a car you have had for 10 years... just set the cruise and sit back. I think FredFarted said he has a mother that is around two years old now.. he just keeps taking clones and keeps her in constant veg (18 or 24 hours of light)

This is a really good read on CFls. I learned pretty much everything I needed from this sticky.

Here is a pic of my veg cabinet with CFLs. The kind folks on this site helped me with this setup and it has worked out great.

The CFLs are an inexpensive, readily available way to improve your lighting and I think it would be a great way to get your *girls* corrected. A lot of people have had great success with using CFLs for both veg and flower too. Scott06 is a good resource on this I think.. Just watch the heat on the CFLs, as you can really heat up an grow area with them. You can always replace them down the road if you choose to and use them around your house in a standard lamp.
