I had to replace a key on my wifes car the key was 100 and was 45 to program the key..theres a chip in the key that has to be programed to the car...Boy was I PISSED..a locksmith can make you a key if theres no security involved with the ignition..he can copy any lock as one key fits all locks and the ignition also. I know its been done on my buddies 2000 Yamaha r1...he made a key out of the lock to the rear cowl and it worked in the ignition also..hope all works out keep us posted
